> Diagnosis: cancer
> What can I do to help myself?
| The following shows ways in which you can contribute to your own health and notably influence your own quality of life. |
> Health rests mainly on three cornerstones:
- A healthy diet
- Sufficient exercise
- Psychological balance (inner
balance)
All three aspects contribute to strengthening your resistance and thus increase your wellbeing.

> Diet
No miracle diet exists at the moment that can cure
cancer. It has been proved, however, that a balanced diet on the one hand and the combination of certain foods on the other hand contribute to strengthening the body’s own resistance (immune system), promote
healing, and raise the general sense of wellbeing. Through the right diet you can contribute a great deal to improving your quality of life. |

> The following contains a summary and recommendations for your special combination of
foods:
The basis of a healthy diet is a balanced combination of certain
basic foods:
 | Milk and dairy products, bread, meat, fruit and vegetables. Fruit and vegetables are of particular importance as they contain a multitude of substances that can prevent or slow the development of
cancer. |
 | Of major importance are foods containing rough fibres, such as wholemeal bread and pastry, wholegrain rice, legumes, etc). Grain products should be consumed in the form of wholegrain products (wholemeal bread, wholegrain rice, wholemeal pasta, etc) as these retain the vital substances and roughage in an intact form, in contrast to white bread, white rice, etc. |
 | Daily consumption of fruit, vegetables, and fibres is important. |
 | Fats should be consumed mainly in the form of cold-pressed plant oil (corn oil, olive oil, or some such) as these contain valuable unsaturated fats. Avoid hidden fats in products containing meat, sausages, and
mayonnaise. |
 | Chose low-fat cheeses, reduce your consumption of meat, and add fish to your weekly eating plan (1-2
times). |
